Planning: Mise-en-Scenes

Since I'm targeting a female audience of young adults,  I wanna go for a funky, swag-girl appearance for my model. I don't intend to represent my audience with this style but I just want to make it look modern and stylish in a bit unconventional and striking manner.

I really like the mise-en-scenes used in this image and the way they are put together. This is the look I want to re-create for my model, but I will be adding a touch of my own creativity to it, based on the theme I have decided on for my magazine.

Here are a few inspirations of mine for props and styling;

For the outfit, I'd like a bit casual. Since I'm going to rely on the accessories and make-up for adding the funkiness that I have envisioned, I'm not focusing on the fancy outfit, so that I don't overdo it.

For the make-up look, I am thinking of going a bit bright and artsy.

For the props, just like the inspirational image above, I'm gonna use glasses. I have the following options.

Of course, I'm gonna use a wig.

Research: School Magazine Logos

Some magazines improve their logos by using different colour schemes, different fonts and so on. This could sometimes be based on the various market segments they target. Teach, for example, produces various content magazines based on its targeted market segments. For its education-based neutral content, targeted at a wider, less-segmented audience, it uses a simple, broadly written, sans-serif font.  For its audience segmented as primary and secondary educators, it uses a much informal, bright logo to target its respective audience.

Preliminary Task: School Magazine - Final Product

Planning: Sketches

Starting up my work on the preliminary task of creating my own school magazine, the first step was to make illustrations of how I wanted my magazine to look like. For that, I created these sketches.
