Research: Magazine Layouts

The front cover of any magazine is what determines the kind of audience it would be targeting and how profoundly it would be known to its readers. It needs to be reflective of its targeted audience, their characteristics and tastes, while also being in line with the genre that it follows. In the case of Beauty magazines, different brands follow a different theme when it comes to portraying their definition of beauty through elements including, camera angle, shot, lighting and mise-en-scenes. Here are a few examples of brand diversity in beauty magazines.







These magazines have given me a good understanding of what my own beauty magazine cover page should look like.

Research: School Magazine Logos

Some magazines improve their logos by using different colour schemes, different fonts and so on. This could sometimes be based on the various market segments they target. Teach, for example, produces various content magazines based on its targeted market segments. For its education-based neutral content, targeted at a wider, less-segmented audience, it uses a simple, broadly written, sans-serif font.  For its audience segmented as primary and secondary educators, it uses a much informal, bright logo to target its respective audience.
