Cover-page: Construction - Designing and Editing

For the construction of my main magazine downloaded Adobe Photoshop version CS6, which is more advanced than the version 8 that I used for my school magazine construction. So I started with bringing editing the main image. I increased the brightness and saturation of the image and added more vibrancy to it. I then brought in the logo that I had created. Then I added the Publication Company's name and the issue date. After adding the skyline, this is what the masthead looked like. Then came the cover lines. I used a couple of different fonts to add variety and a sense of informality to my coverage. I decided not to make it too wordy so did not add too many cover lines. also because

Prep: The Shoot

These are all the images and rejected shots from the photoshoot that I did for my magazine. We started off by taking some practice shots using iphone11. There isn't any good focus or depth-effect in these. The glasses are also blocking her eyes from being visible so the direct mode of address that I wanted isn't there. Then we moved on to using a Canon D70. I was able to get better lighting and focus than before. I made my model do a bunch of poses and give some expressions. I managed to get some good mid-shots with a direct mode of address without removing the glasses, just like I had planned. Now for the behind-the-scenes, while we did the hard work, we also engaged in some off-topic fun activities!

Planning: Mise-en-Scenes

Since I'm targeting a female audience of young adults,  I wanna go for a funky, swag-girl appearance for my model. I don't intend to represent my audience with this style but I just want to make it look modern and stylish in a bit unconventional and striking manner. I really like the mise-en-scenes used in this image and the way they are put together. This is the look I want to re-create for my model, but I will be adding a touch of my own creativity to it, based on the theme I have decided on for my magazine. Here are a few inspirations of mine for props and styling; For the outfit, I'd like a bit casual. Since I'm going to rely on the accessories and make-up for adding the funkiness that I have envisioned, I'm not focusing on the fancy outfit, so that I don't overdo it. For the make-up look, I am thinking of going a bit bright and artsy. For the props, just like the inspirational image above, I'm gonna use glasses. I have the following options. Of course, ...
